Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP under the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she began to gain the attention of her peers. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it with Rihanna. On December 8 it was revealed that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she recorded with Cozz in her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing in the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening artist. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video followed by a music video in September. On November 9 she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 two new singles titled No One and pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16and later she released the song as a single by herself to her first album. This track, which was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over 3 million times in the first 7 days. As a supporting act she performed together with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
